Defiant Grace — Chapter III: What Women Made Possible honors Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, Stormé DeLarverie, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, Audre Lorde, and Christine Jorgensen—six women whose lives and contributions helped shape LGBTQ+ history.

Their impact took many forms. They organized and advocated. They protected their communities and challenged movements that left people behind. They wrote, spoke, performed, and lived publicly at times when visibility could carry enormous consequences. Each, in her own way, helped create space and possibility for those who came after her.

Created in recognition of LGBTQ+ History Month, this chapter honors their individual stories, their lasting legacies, and what they helped make possible.
